Stash Hub Update - Manage Field Suggestions

There are lots of fields in Stash Hub that offer field suggestions when you’re entering information about your fabric and patterns. For fabrics these fields include colours, fabric types and location and patterns include designers and garment types. The latest Stash Hub update (Version 1.26.2) allows you to manage the options that are suggested for these fields, with the ability to edit or delete suggestions from the list.

How to use the Field Suggestions Manager

You can access the Field Suggestions manager through Settings or by tapping on the ‘Manage’ icon next to a particular field. Select the field you want to manage. This will show you all the options that are currently suggested for that field. The cards will also how how many records currently use this suggestion.

Tap on the pencil icon to edit a suggestion (e.g. change ‘greeb’ to green’). When you’ve finished editing tap the tick to confirm. Before the update is saved, there will be a pop-up reminding you which records use this field entry and will be updated once you tap ‘Update’.

Delete suggestions by tapping on the bin icon. This will remove this suggestion from all the records it is currently assigned to. There will be a pop-up to show all the records that this will be removed from.

Tap the plus button in the bottom right to add a new suggestion. This will show in the drop down list when you start typing in this field when editing a record.

Why would you want to manage your field suggestions?

• Correct Typos: You may have made a typo in one record (e.g. ‘greeb’ when you meant ‘green’ and now it gets suggested every time you use that field. Annoying, but no problem, you can manage the fields to correct ‘greeb’ to ‘green’ which will also correct all the records with the typo
• Update Info: The nature of curating your dream sewing stash means constantly adapting it to fit your needs. This may mean that you have to rearrange things from time to time. An example of this could be that you move all your patterns from a ringbinder into a storage box. As with correcting typos, you can go into the field suggestions manager and update ‘Ringbinder 1’ to ‘Pattern Storage Box’ in all your records.
• Remove Duplicates: Sometimes you may have the same information expressed in multiple ways. For example I had some fabrics with the colour set to ‘Multi’ with others as ‘Multiple Colours’ or ‘Multicolour’. I was able to use the Field Suggestions Manager to consolidate these so these records are consistently called ‘Multi’ in the colour field.
• Delete Unused Tags: Tags are a flexible way to filter for fabrics, patterns, notions and projects. Let’s say you used tags to mark everything you planned to use for your ‘Summer 2024’ sewing, but now that tag is no longer relevant. You could delete that tag in the Field Suggestions Manager which would remove it from all records.

Also in this update

• Filter fields work differently so you will no longer see irrelevant options (e.g. if there is a colour ‘clear’ that is only used in Notions, it won’t appear as an option when filtering Fabrics).
• Bug fix - the project share graphic will no longer show a previously deleted picture of the Person the project is for.
• Issue with downloading PDFs when there are multiple attached to a pattern has been fixed (previous update 1.26.0)
• You can filter Projects for the default options on the To-Do list (previous update 1.26.0)
• When filling in the purchased length in a fabric record, the remaining length is automatically set to the same value (previous update 1.26.0)

How to get the latest Stash Hub update

The latest version of Stash Hub is version 1.26.2. Even if you have automatic updates enabled, it’s worth checking the app store to make sure you’re on the latest version. If you use Stash Hub across multiple devices, make sure they are all updated as you may get errors if you’ve used new features then access a previous version of the app where these don’t exist.
